Shopify Online Token Migration — Starting August 10, 2026

Effective January 1, 2027, Shopify will exclusively support Online tokens. Unlike the current Offline tokens (indefinite lifetime), Online tokens expire every hour and are renewed via a refresh token. EcartAPI will begin migrating all Shopify integrations automatically starting August 10, 2026.

What you need to do

For the automatic migration to work, verify that the Shopify app credentials in your EcartAPI dashboard match the app your stores are connected to:

Dashboard → My Apps → your app → E-commerce Setup → Shopify — confirm the Client ID and Client Secret match your Shopify app's App Key and App Secret.

EcartAPI will handle the migration and all future token refreshes on the next request from each connected store — no further action needed. New integrations will generate Online tokens from the start.

Important: If your credentials already match, do not regenerate or rotate them. Doing so will invalidate all existing Shopify integrations, requiring each store to re-authorize.
